Homestay

Fun on the farm…

Our homestay pack have a pretty fun life here on the farm. They get a mix of time spent in daycare and development, our training packs and Kim and her personal pack. They may also get some off site adventures including weekends away to Kim and her partners family farms up North and Coromandel!

Daily schedule

The dogs are up from 7.00 – 8.30am (early rises on our daycare days) and spend the day with us and the pack on the farm. They go to bed around 6pm and get up for a half hour toilet and stretch around 8.30 – 9pm before bedtime. In warmer months the pack often stay out until bedtime.

Sleeping arrangements

Our dogs sleep in our home away from home doggy den which has plenty of ventilation for summer and keeps nice and warm in winter. This is located in our specifically dedicated K9 Cadets building which is right next door to where we live. We can hear your dogs from our home when we are sleeping but we also have wireless video and sound monitors so we can hear the quietest noises. We can check on your dogs if they are upset for any reason, toilet them if they need it and settle them back in.

Dogs are crated next to each other so they can sleep with the pack while having their own safe private space. We find all dogs settle well into this arrangement even if they have not been crated before. Extra time is given to dogs on their first and second nights as they settle in. If you have two dogs who normally sleep together we have XXXL crates available that will comfortably sleep both dogs. You may bring your dog’s bed (but it needs to be machine washable) and any toys your dog likes.

Off-site travels

We love “living” with the pack so for this reason may take our homestay dogs traveling with us. Long weekends, Easter, Christmas and New Year’s may involve a trip to our coastal farm in Coromandel or our 40-hectare farm near Whangarei. We have a Jumbo Toyota Hiace Van with a professional lockable crating system to ensure your dogs are kept safe on their journey and carry a full medical first aid kit at all times. We also have a portable kennel trailer set up and on site facilities at both locations. The packs may also have some off-site adventure hikes or day adventures from time to time.

Health checks are done daily in the afternoon for all homestay dogs.

Free Bath for all our dogs staying over four days so they come home smelling fresh
